A central memorial bearing 494 names, two memorials on mass graves and a lapidarium. During the pandemic, in a small circle, all 494 names were read aloud, line by line.

A short history

With the support of donors, three memorials were created: a central memorial bearing the 494 names of the victims and two memorials on mass graves (white matzevot). Four mass graves were located and protected. Matzevot found outside the cemetery were restored.

Where the ruins of the pre-burial house were discovered, a lapidarium with a menorah of remembrance was created. The cemetery was fenced together with the Nissenbaum Family Foundation, sandstone paths were laid, and surveillance and lighting were installed.

Conduct at a Jewish cemetery

  • Men cover their heads.
  • Walk only on the paths and never stand on graves.
  • Do not touch or move the matzevot (gravestones).
  • Instead of flowers, Jewish tradition is to place a small stone on the matzevah.
  • Do not eat or drink in the cemetery.
  • Cemeteries are not visited on the Sabbath (from Friday evening to Saturday evening) or on Jewish holidays.
  • It is customary to wash your hands after leaving the cemetery.
